Symposium on new geophysical technology applications in 2016

In the current situation of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" surging in various industries in our country, the geophysics also faces the opportunity and challenge of further development of new technology to promote the level of research and application to a new level. As the main force of "exploration supply" of earth exploration science, geophysical technology is calling for the birth and development of new technology, especially the new technology with original creativity. To this end, from April 13 to 15 in 2016, the "2016 New Geophysical Technology Seminar" was successfully held in Beijing, which was hosted by Geo-electromagnetic Committee of Chinese Geophysical Society and Geophysical and Technical Society as well as sponsored by Century (Beijing) Geophysics Technology Co., Ltd., The seminar has invited about 30 academic leaders or key personnel in scientific research institutes, colleges, universities, enterprises and institutions in the front line and seven experts with profound accomplishments in the research and development of new international geophysics technologies to deliver special report on the status quo, future trends of related fields and new technologies being developed. The high level of the speakers is rare in recent seminars in the field of new technologies of electromagnetics and geophysics.

 

Yang Wencai, academician of the Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences reported, with profundity and an easy-to-understand approach, the development and application of the latest technology in geophysics. Other reports include: the latest progress of the magnetotelluric three - dimensional inversion technology in the deep structure of the earth, oil and gas exploration in the present century; cases that time-frequency electromagnetic method and electromagnetic data constrained inversion are successfully applied in the direct detection of reservoir; the electromagnetic method has the advantage of high sensitivity to lithology, and plays an important role in the three-dimensional geological mapping in the overburden area or metal mining area; time-shifted electromagnetic exploration method capable of detecting the move of oil or gas; the new technology of determining the location of the ore body by the pulse electromagnetic method of the three-component observation data in the well; the research achievement of great deep exploration by using the transient electromagnetic technology of short distance transmission; the technology of utilizing superconducting magnetometer in the transient electromagnetic survey to realize great deep, high-precision exploration.; Electromagnetic observation data processing and interpretation technology based on topology principle to overcome the influence of magnetotelluric static displacement; full waveform analysis technology to stimulate polarization detection; the first control source extremely low frequency (CSELF) network of station located in capital region and Sichuan-Yunnan region is constructed; long-term continuous observation on the role of electromagnetic data in analyzing abnormal phenomena before earthquake; the application of marine electromagnetic instruments developed by our country in the detection of submarine hydrate; principle and new progress of new technology of VTEM and ZTEM for aerial electromagnetic detection of artificial source or natural source; evolutionary progress in the use of passive seismic method in oil and gas exploration; a new type of gravimeter using metal spring sensor; the results and application prospect of the observation and detection of salt caves by using the combination method of sonar and electromagnetic.

 

The seminar re-emphasized the role of the quality and work ability of science and technology personnel in improving the geophysical detection, and stressed that attention should be paid to the training of young scientists and technicians on the principles of geophysical techniques and on the improvement of exploration data analysis and cognitive skills.

 

The seminar was attended by 237 participants from 110 units, including the Geological Survey, geological and mineral, nonferrous metal, metallurgical, coal, nuclear industry, railway, hydropower, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Seismological Bureau, universities and colleges and engineering units, and 13 people from abroad. Zhao Guoze, director of Geo-electromagnetic Professional Committee of Chinese Geophysical Society, Sun Jinzhong, Director of Geophysical and Technical Committee made speeches at the seminar on the necessity and measures of training young science and technology personnel, and the establishment of a platform for the exchange of new geophysical technologies.

 

The participants agreed that the "symposium on new geophysical technology applications" held every two years since 2009 and the "China International Geo-Electromagnetic Workshop", which was held every two years, had played a good complementary role in promoting the development of the geo-electromagnetic and new technologies, and it was suggested to continue to run.
